Now before we jump to client lash lift aftercare, there are important steps to follow immediately after a lash lift as a lash artist. We highly recommend following these lash lift aftercare tips before your client heads off.

Lash Lift Aftercare Tip #1: Cleanse Lashes Immediately After The Lash Lift

If you’re thinking… “What? You can’t get the lashes wet for 24 hours!” We’re here to update you on the newest lash lift aftercare tip… You CAN get the eyelashes wet even immediately after a lash lift. We’ve tried it hundreds of times without compromising the results of the beautiful Instant Lash Lift.

After setting & tinting the lashes using our revolutionary SET x TINTlotion (where it allows you to set AND tint the eyelashes at the same time), we use our Balanced Lash Cleanser to cleanse off any lash lift product residue on the eyes and eyelashes. Why cleanse? For proper lash lift aftercare, it is important to remove all remaining lash lift product from the eyes to prevent further processing of the lashes, and prevent irritation from accidentally leaving product on for longer than intended.

Furthermore, your clients will be ECSTATIC to hear that they no longer have to wait 24 hours before getting their lashes wet.

Lash Lift Aftercare Tip #2 : Nourish and Repair Lashes With an Intensive Treatment

One of the most important lash lift aftercare tips is to keep the lashes conditioned, nourished, and hydrated! A lash lift is a chemical procedure that restructures the shape of the natural lashes. While done properly, a lash lift does not cause breakage to the eyelashes, it can still lead to the lashes being more dry. As such, a much needed lash lift aftercare is to immediately condition the eyelashes with an intensive hydrating treatment right after the service.

Our best-selling two-step conditioning system, the 24 Karat Glaze + Keratin Sealant Duo is the most intensive treatment that repairs, nourishes, and strengthens the eyelashes. The duo contains a potent cocktail of powerhouse ingredients such as sodium hyaluronate, zizyphus jujuba fruit extract, hydrolyzed keratin, soluble collagen, hydrolyzed silk, and gold, to instantly plump, and visibly hydrate the lashes leaving them healthier, and stronger.

For clients looking for a vegan option, Power Gloss is a blend of specially selected plant oils rich in vitamins, and have the ability to protect, strengthen, and condition the lashes.

Providing your clients with a complimentary luxurious lash lift aftercare treatment for their lashes is also great for marketing! Stand out compared to your competitors by offering more value and care during the appointment. Clients always notice how soft and hydrated their lashes are after the conditioning lash lift treatment. Educate your client to avoid washing off the intensive lash treatment until 4+ hours later to ensure that their eyelashes receive the full benefit of the hydrating elixir!

Following the appointment, the client must follow lash lift aftercare instructions in order to prolong the beautiful appearance of their lash lift, and maintain the health of their eyelashes.

Lash Lift Aftercare Tip #3 : Condition Lashes Daily

As we have mentioned earlier, a lash lift can leave the lashes feeling less hydrated after the service. To maintain soft, hydrated lashes, and to prolong the lifted appearance of the lash lift, customers should condition their eyelashes daily with a keratin conditioner such as Renew. Think about when you get your hair dyed or permed, you would want to condition your hair even more after the service to help your hair maintain moisture, and to keep them looking great and glossy! This is the same idea - the best lash lift aftercare is to condition, condition, condition!

We highly recommend retailing a lash conditioner like Renew for clients to purchase for their lash lift aftercare. This conditioner leaves their lashes feeling soft and supple as it nourishes the lashes from inside out. When lash lift aftercare is followed, and the customer’s eyelashes are well nourished, it prepares them for their next lash lift appointment too! The conditioner can even be used for clients who simply want a product to hydrate and strengthen their eyelashes.

Lash Lift Aftercare Tip #4: Use a Nourishing Mascara

Most mascaras on the market are rather drying, but remember that proper lash lift aftercare is keeping the lashes well hydrated. This is why we recommend that you suggest or even retail more hydrating mascara formulations for your clients.

Our Impact Revitalizing Mascara is formulated specially for those who have gotten a lash lift treatment. The cool black formula includes Argan Oil to nourish the eyelashes. The tried and tested non-waterproof formula is smudge-proof but still extremely easy to wash! Perfect as makeup AND a lash lift aftercare product!

Lash Lift Aftercare Tip #5 : Be More Gentle with the Lashes

One of the most obvious lash lift aftercare tips is to be more gentle with the lashes after getting a lash lift. In reality, we should always be gentle around the eyes regardless if we get lashes done or not!

Clients can carry on with their usual daily routine as long as they’re simply more gentle around the eye area and eyelashes. This includes avoiding sleeping ON the face. If clients are sleeping on their face every night, they may notice that the curl does not last as long, or may even look wonky shortly after. Sleeping on the face just ONCE should not contribute to the lash lift “falling” after a day of getting them done.

The use of a lash curler should be avoided after getting a lash lift since there shouldn’t be a need for it. Furthermore, lash curlers can be damaging to the lashes and frequently even cause them to be cut short. If the client wishes to use a curler once the lash lift starts growing out, that is acceptable.

Lash Lift Aftercare Tip #6 : Use a Lash Enhancing Serum

In preparation for the next lash lift, clients can use a lash enhancing serum such as Boost to improve the health and appearance of the eyelashes, making them appear longer, thicker AND fuller. Clients are always looking for products to improve their current natural lashes so that the effect of their next lash lift is even more dramatic! You’d be surprised to find that clients are more than happy to purchase retail products from you because they trust your expertise and getting them at the appointment makes it even more convenient! They’ll THANK you when they see the difference that the product has made.

Boost contains amazing ingredients to improve hair and lashes such as Peptides, Amino Acids, Soluble Collagen, Hydrolyzed Keratin, Biotin, and MyristolPentapeptide-17. Myristol Pentapeptide-17 has been proven to be one of the best active ingredients used in eyelash growth serums, and has been shown to boost keratin production and lengthen the hair growth cycle. Clients can expect to notice healthier eyelashes in 6-8 weeks.

Lash Lift Aftercare Tip #7: Wait 6-8 Weeks Before the Next Lash Lift

Lash lift results are addicting, and we’re sure that everyone can agree on this! Clients will be itching to know when they can come back for the next lash lift treatment and have their lashes freshly lifted again!

Everyone’s eyelash cycle is different - some can be longer than others. Typically, a lash lift can last up to 6-8 for most. We recommend suggesting your client to wait until most of their eyelashes are new ones, meaning that their lash line is mostly filled with newly grown, straight lashes. This is because a lash lift is still a chemical procedure leading to some dryness of the lashes. For the best results, a lash lift should be done on fresh new lashes to ensure that the results will be just as amazing as the previous time.

When lashes are lifted again too soon, this is not optimal for lash lift aftercare. There is a small risk that the lashes will feel more dry, brittle, and coarse. Of course, if the client followed the recommended lash lift aftercare tips, and conditioned their eyelashes daily using a keratin conditioner like Renew, the lashes may be lifted a little earlier than 6-8 weeks. This however requires your professional assessment of the health and hydration of the eyelashes.
